Austin 7 Restoration
This Austin 7 was purchased for a customer from Cheshire in 2018 and was in a poor state.
The previous owner had stored it in his garage for some time but due to his age, he was unable to do anything with it, and he decided to move it on to someone who could restore it back to its former glory.
The customer wanted a bespoke restoration to suit his budget.
We stripped the vehicle down to the main components, sourced new parts and refurbished the interior.
The seats were re-covered using new leather from a local supplier to the original specifications.
All the welding was completed on the chassis, we fabricated new wings and strengthened the supporting structures for the body.
We also purchased new tyres and fitted two fully refurbished and painted wheels.
The engine was checked with a compression meter and was found to be in good working order.
It was then fully serviced and cleaned and finally repainted.
The radiator was flushed and cleaned with new hoses fitted.
We tested the wiring and found it to be unsuitable and rewired the electrical system where needed, and retested it to make sure everything was in full working condition.
The body itself was found to be in good condition apart from the wooden frame which had deteriorated in places, all these parts were replaced with bespoke seasoned ash.
The body was then sanded and painted in etch primer, then primer filler and epoxy primer then finished with two coats of ruby red two-pack paint.
The new owner now displays it at classic car shows and is very pleased.
